Raw Hair Care

Raw hair extensions, known for their natural appearance and high quality, require specific care to maintain their integrity and longevity. Understanding the unique characteristics of raw human hair is essential for optimal maintenance. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of best practices for caring for raw extensions.

It is important to note that our raw hair extensions are unprocessed and come from a single donor. This means they retain their natural cuticles, which run in the same direction. To preserve the cuticle layer, it is advisable to use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. Sulfates can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and potential damage. A pH-balanced product is recommended to maintain moisture levels.

Washing raw extensions should be done sparingly, ideally every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the level of product buildup and environmental exposure. When washing, it is crucial to use lukewarm water and avoid hot water, as it can lead to frizz and damage. Gently detangle the hair with a wide-tooth comb before washing to prevent breakage. Smooth shampoo from the weft to the tip and avoid vigorously rubbing the product through the hair.

Conditioning is a vital step in the care of raw extensions. A deep conditioning treatment should be applied at least once a month to restore moisture and elasticity. Look for products that contain natural oils which can help nourish the hair without weighing it down. Leave-in conditioners can also be beneficial for daily moisture retention.

Styling raw extensions requires caution. Heat styling tools should be used sparingly, as excessive heat can lead to irreversible damage. When using heat, it is advisable to apply a heat protectant spray to minimize thermal damage. Furthermore, opting for lower heat settings can help maintain the hair’s quality.

Storage of raw extensions is equally important. When not in use, it is best to store the hair in a cool, dry place, preferably in a silk or satin bag to prevent tangling and friction. Avoid storing the extensions in direct sunlight, as UV rays can degrade the hair fibers over time.
